“Spiritual Involvement Intervention for Twelve Step Alcohol Recovery.”
Dr. Brown will present the findings of the published research he has done on spirituality and
Twelve Step programs for alcohol and substance abuse. While a variety of treatment
options are available, the spiritual Twelve Step program remains a popular modality for
alcohol and other substance abuse disorders.
Alcoholics Anonymous’ Twelve Step recovery is reliant upon spirituality to
promote recovery. Dr. Brown, a family physician at Baylor College of Medicine at Baylor
Clinic, will discuss published results of “Knowing Your Higher Power,” a seven-week
behavioral spirituality intervention he developed and tested for implementation along with
usual Twelve Step care.
Lecture will be held at ISH, charge is $10, and parking is free.
